Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn. Street fair. Cold weather, wind, and a general lack of sun didn't discourage the masses from descending on Park Slope's 5th Ave for a street fair.
One notable thing not documented here is the stark difference between the North and South ends of the street fair, only about 20 short blocks apart. The North side was all gourmet food, handmade crafts, and other trappings of middle-class, liberal, yuppiedom. As one walked South, the scene changed, being dominated by Latin American food and stock NYC street fair fare (Sausage, Peppers, Onions joints), generic plastic toy hawkers, and mobile carnie-attractions (custom license plate engraving, custom, neon T-shirts).
Interesting. Would have been worthwhile making two images per block all the way down. Maybe next year.
