During the peak of the cherry blossom season, the petals rain down like warm-weather snowflakes near constantly for a week or two depending on the weather. It transforms an otherwise hectic city into a pretty calming place. The majority of these images comes from a small stand of trees near the entrance to Prospect Park. The last two are from inside the Brooklyn Botanical Garden during the Cherry Blossom Festival, which is an off-the-wall scene of dreamlike cherry blossoms everywhere and people dressed up like Japanese anime characters and geishas-- images straight from Harajuku in Shibuya in Tokyo. Unfortunately I was a bit overwhelmed to turn my camera on all that.
